This is the secret of the companies specialized in contract, as we could learn in one of the discussion tables that we attended during the last edition of InteriHOTEL in Barcelona. Emilio Pérez, principal of SB Architects in Miami (USA) strongly insisted on this idea. But, what does “less product but more potential” mean?

According to the majority of prescribers, nowadays one brand is much more valued by  its potential and capacity than by its product catalog. While they like to see creative products, innovative solutions, breakthrough proposals ... what really makes the difference between providers is the ability to express and use their potential —assuming they have it, of course— to do things beyond all the material stuff. It’s the potential to create something new  for a given project, to innovate, to dare to think (and produce and design) in a different way without listening to what is usually done,  to adapt to the personality and requirements of each project. Today, what makes the difference between projects is its personality, its exclusivity; not only in the products used but also in the philosophy, the conception, the execution, the spirit and in the heart of the project. Yes, in its “spirit” and its “heart” because projects are living creatures that have to be treated kindly, taken care of; and when they grow up and walk alone, be there to advise them and keep them in the right path, like a son.

That is why perhaps some companies are wrong to think that the goal of professional meetings is simply to present products. The product is simply the excuse, the motive, a physical reference point from which to tell a story and expose and convince of its potentialities. So, go ahead the products! But those that allow us to express what we can do!
